The Palin Pick

John McCain's pick of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is a mind-boggling act of desperation and shows poor judgement.

First, for a candidate who happens to be the oldest man ever to run for the office, and one with a history of cancer at that, to select someone younger and less-experienced than Barack Obama does make one wonder just what was he thinking. Does John McCain think that former Hillary supporters will vote for him because he picked a pro-life VP who happens to be a woman?

Second, for John McCain to select as his running-mate someone who is currently under investigation for abusing her office again makes one wonder just what was he thinking. Now she is innocent unless proven guilty, and she may well be innocent, but couldn't McCain find someone who is not being investigated for something? But then he is a Republican.

Joseph Cannon covers The Plot to Kill Obama? Worth reading. Cannon also links to this story:

In the federal arrest affidavit, an agent with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau writes that Johnson told a Secret Service agent, described only as SA Torres, that "Adolf had, in fact, threatened to kill Obama on a prior occasion ... that he wanted to kill Obama on the day of his inauguration and ... would specifically use a 22-250 sniper rifle."

Special Agent Shane Abraham of the ATF goes on to write, "Johnson then told (SA Torres) there were no political reasons for wanting to kill Obama, the only reason is because Obama is black."
......

In jail, Johnson was asked by a reporter if he felt there was a plot to kill Obama.
Johnson said, "Looking back at it, I don't want to say yes, but I don't want to say no."

Space Alien Predicts Obama Win

Oh, ha, you say. The alien. But know this, naysayer: The Weekly World News alien has accurately predicted the outcome of every presidential election since Ronald Reagan won in 1980.

Possible Assassination Plot Against Obama

Authorities investigating a man arrested with rifles, ammunition and drugs in his truck who allegedly threatened Barack Obama emphasize that he never posed a "credible threat" to the candidate or the Democratic National Convention.
Hours later, Gartrell led them to two nearby hotels, where authorities arrested two more men — Nathan Johnson and Shawn Robert Adolf.

Johnson told KCNC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Denver, that others involved in the case had made racist statements regarding Obama and had discussed killing him on the day of his nomination acceptance speech.
Apparently there were four individuals involved in the alleged plot. The Daily Telegraph has more:

One of the group said he was "going to shoot Obama", who is in Denver, Colorado, for the Democratic National Convention, "from a high vantage point using a rifle sighted at 750 yards".

Police said that one of the suspects "was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative".
An associate of Gartrell and Adolph, Nathan Johnson, 32, and his girlfriend, Natasha Gromek, were also arrested. Johnson is understood to have told authorities that the two men "planned to kill Barack Obama at his acceptance speech."

As if there was ever any doubt Fact Check has authenticated Barack Obama's birth certificate just as a lawsuit has been filed challenging Obama as being inelegible to be President.
Peter Evans, the author of Nemesis has an article in the Daily Mirror supporting his hypothesis that Aristotle Onassis was involved in the asassination of Robert Kennedy.

'Somebody was going to fix the little b*****d sooner or later,' Onassis responded coldly. He told Meyer to call as soon as Kennedy had passed away - 'as if he wanted to know the result of the 4pm race at Santa Anita,' Meyer said.

Anthrax Coverup: A Government Insider Speaks Out

Is it possible that the anthrax attacks were launched from within our own government? A former Bush 1 advisor thinks it is.

Francis A. Boyle, an international law expert who worked under the first Bush Administration as a bioweapons advisor in the 1980s, has said that he is convinced the October 2001 anthrax attacks that killed five people were perpetrated and covered up by criminal elements of the U.S. government. The motive: to foment a police state by killing off and intimidating opposition to post-9/11 legislation such as the USA PATRIOT Act and the later Military Commissions Act.
This article The Anthrax Files in The American Conservative has more:

Ivins, says Boyle, just doesn’t fit the bill. “It does not appear that he had the technological sophistication to manufacture this super weapons-grade anthrax, which would have included aerosolization, silicon coating, and an electrostatic charge.” Jeffrey Adamovicz, who directed the bacteriology division at Fort Detrick in 2003 and 2004, told McClatchy that the anthrax mailed to Sen. Tom Daschle was “so concentrated and so consistent and so clean that I would assert that Bruce could not have done that part.”
If the scientists at Fort Detrick did not have the capacity to produce this kind of anthrax, who did? Boyle suggests an answer in his book, Biowarfare and Terrorism. He alleges that the evidence in the anthrax spores, if properly pursued, would have “led directly back to a secret but officially sponsored U.S. government biowarfare program that was illegal and criminal, in violation of [the] Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989.” This might be easily dismissed as conspiracy theory except that a source no less reputable than the New York Times published a similar charge on Sept. 4, 2001: “the United States has embarked on a program of secret research on biological weapons that, some officials say, tests the limits of the global treaty banning such weapons. … earlier this year, administration officials said, the Pentagon drew up plans to engineer genetically a potentially more potent variant of the bacterium that causes anthrax.”

Barack Obama in exotic Hawaii. Certainly makes a contrast with elderly John McCain.
A top Russian general said Friday that Poland's agreement to accept a U.S. missile interceptor base exposes the ex-communist nation to attack, possibly by nuclear weapons, the Interfax news agency reported.

The Bush administration is acting very provocatively toward Russia. These policies are so astonishingly stupid that only the neocons could have come up with them. There seems little doubt that it was the U.S. that disrupted the status quo re South Ossetia, which had enjoyed a de facto independence since 1992. How many wars does Cheney want?

USA Military Officers Challenge Official Account of September 11

Twenty-five former U.S. military officers have severely criticized the official account of 9/11 and called for a new investigation. They include former commander of U.S. Army Intelligence, Major General Albert Stubblebine, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Col. Ronald D. Ray, two former staff members of the Director of the National Security Agency; Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski, PhD, and Major John M. Newman, PhD, and many others. They are among the rapidly growing number of military and intelligence service veterans, scientists, engineers, and architects challenging the government’s story.

Major John Newman is of course the author of Oswald and the CIA.

“There’s a second group of facts having to do with the cover up,” continued Col. Bowman. “Taken together these things prove that high levels of our government don’t want us to know what happened and who’s responsible. Who gained from 9/11? Who covered up crucial information about 9/11? And who put out the patently false stories about 9/11 in the first place? When you take those three things together, I think the case is pretty clear that it’s highly placed individuals in the administration with all roads passing through Dick Cheney.”

There is a good deal that is of interest in this article from Pakistan Daily. Most of the people quoted, who have impressive credentials, seem to support theories of controlled demolition, and of a missile hitting the Pentagon, two theories of which I have been, and still am skeptical, but no longer dismiss out-of-hand.

Col. Lankford wrote, “September 11, 2001 seems destined to be the watershed event of our lives and the greatest test for our democracy in our lifetimes. The evidence of government complicity in the lead-up to the events, the failure to respond during the event, and the astounding lack of any meaningful investigation afterwards, as well as the ignoring of evidence turned up by others that renders the official explanation impossible, may signal the end of the American experiment. It has been used to justify all manners of measures to legalize repression at home and as a pretext for behaving as an aggressive empire abroad. Until we demand an independent, honest, and thorough investigation and accountability for those whose action and inaction led to those events and the cover-up, our republic and our Constitution remain in the gravest danger.”

Will there ever be another official investigation into the events of September 11, 2001? In the Kennedy assassination there was the House Select Committee investigation in the 70s, largely sabotaged, and the limited investigation of the Assassination Record Review Board in the 90s. In both cases, it was political pressure by ordinary people, that led to those efforts.

Darragh Murphy, the founder of PUMAPac, an ardent Hillary supporter who is actually a Conservative Republican, is now accusing the Obama campaign of killing bunnies.

Ms. Murphy, a mother of three who lives outside Boston, believes that the only way to save the Democratic Party at this point is to destroy it. Mr. Obama must lose, and his supporters must be purged.

She said that Obama supporters have harassed her and her followers by banging on their windows with pots and pans in the middle of the night, making phone threats and leaving dead rabbits on their doorsteps.

Senator Obama has not yet been accused of dumping newborn babies from incubators and leaving them on the ground to die.

War in South Ossetia!

Crap. Major military action is apparently taking place in a "country" that I had never heard of prior to the outbreak of hostilities. Trying to get up to speed.

Conversation With a Ft. Detrick Scientist

The scientist says that "Dr. Bruce Ivins is innocent and that all the scientists who worked with him know he is innocent".

The scientists says that "Dr. Ivins doesn't have a motive to kill anyone", and was instead, "dedicated to saving lives by making anthrax vaccines". "Dr. Ivins has 30 years of service in protecting human life".

The scientist says that "Dr. Ivins did not make weaponized anthrax, does not know how to make weaponized anthrax, and does not have the equipment to make weaponized anthrax".
LA Times: After seven long years, the FBI and the Justice Department say they are closing the books on the anthrax investigation.

Rep. Rush D. Holt and others want a Congressional investigation. A good idea but not one that will get to the bottom of this case. What is needed is investigation by the Justice Department of a new Democratic investigation.

"We don't want this to be another Lee Harvey Oswald case where the public says it is never solved to their satisfaction," said Holt, referring to conspiracy theories surrounding President Kennedy's 1963 assassination.

"Somebody needs to finish the job that would have been finished in a court of law."

Is John McCain the Anti-Christ?

Biblical scholars in Colorado Springs have uncovered startling evidence that Senator John McCain may be the Antichrist. Their conclusions, while highly controversial, may have a dramatic impact on the 2008 elections, since many Bible-believing Christians have already expressed doubts about McCain’s fealty to Christianity.

To answer the question: no, John McCain is not the Anti-Christ. Barack Obama is not the Anti-Christ. No one is the Anti-Christ.
McCain was asked if he had always been faithful to his wife. His second wife, as we all know that he was unfaithful to his first. His answer:

McCain: "Oh no... that's not what I'm going to talk about."

The blogger who asked him the question adds:

I would not have asked the Cindy Mccain question without some inside knowledge. There's a story coming. I don't know how it is going to break or where, but McCain will not enjoy the benefit of an enthused evangelical base. Wheels are turning

I've never seen McCain looking so dynamic.
Just a crazy teen-ager or a plot to kill the President? From the Washington Post: Motorcade Map Found at House Of Bomb Suspect

Police found a map of Camp David marked with a presidential motorcade route inside the Bethesda home of the teenager at the center of a bombmaking probe, along with a document that appears to describe how to kill someone at a distance of 200 meters, a Montgomery County prosecutor said yesterday at a court hearing.

Collin McKenzie-Gude, 18, also had two forms of fake identification: one portraying him as a Central Intelligence Agency employee, and the other in the name of a federal contractor purportedly protected by the Geneva Conventions, authorities said.

The investigation has expanded to include officials from the CIA, FBI and Secret Service, prosecutors said. McKenzie-Gude, who is in the Montgomery County jail, faces charges that include weapons violations, possession of explosives and attempted carjacking. At the house last week, police found more than 50 pounds of chemicals, assault-style weapons and armor-piercing bullets.
