An interestingMcClatchy newspaper story: Iranian outmaneuvers U.S. in Iraq

According to this story Brig. Gen. Qassem Suleimani commands the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force and is out-maneuvering us in Iraq. Of particular interest, admittedly according to anonymous US and Iraqi officials, Suleimani has:

Slipped into Baghdad's Green Zone, the heavily fortified seat of the U.S. occupation and the Iraqi government, in April 2006 to try to orchestrate the selection of a new Iraqi prime minister. Iraqi officials said that audacious visit was Suleimani's only foray into the Green Zone; American officials said he may have been there more than once.

Audacious ideed. The Green Zone is not considered safe enough for Bush or Cheney to visit but this guy slips in. We are playing checkers and the Iranians are playing chess.

the anti-Iranian propaganda machine seems to be gearing up ! they just released this :
Saddam Hussein feared catching venereal diseases from U.S. guards
http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/05/saddam-hussein.html

What's the link with Iran ?
when you read up to the end, you get the goody :
"The Iraqi dictator, who was hanged in December 2006, expressed serious concerns about the threat from Iran.

"The spread of the Persians... is more dangerous for Iraq than the Zionist entity, now and in the future," he wrote. "The Persians are similarly dangerous to the Arab nation, especially the Arab countries of the Gulf."

A reporter for Al-Hayat tells the Scotsman that she received the diaries from U.S. government officials.

Isn't it nice, they are using the Diary of Saddam Hussein as an anti Iranian propaganda tool !
