Thanks for the pics of Candy Barr. In 1958 I saw her strip on the back of a flat-bed truck in front of the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas before the Texas-Oklahoma game. I then saw her do her stage show at the Cloisters Club in Hollywood a couple of years later. She had a tremendous stage presence and an animal quality about her. I understand in later life she became religious. The good memories blend oddly with the bad ones of her roller-coaster life.
An interesting book has been written about the life and times of Candy Barr. George A Day of Brownwood was a close friend and confident of Candy and has a tremendous insight to her life. You can learn more about her life at the only website authorized by her estate. www.candybarr.com
