Newsweek: Blackwater Plays By Its Own Rules In Iraq

The colonel was furious. "Can you believe it? They actually drew their weapons on U.S. soldiers." He was describing a 2006 car accident, in which an SUV full of Blackwater operatives had crashed into a U.S. Army Humvee on a street in Baghdad's Green Zone. The colonel, who was involved in a follow-up investigation and spoke on the condition he not be named, said the Blackwater guards disarmed the U.S. Army soldiers and made them lie on the ground at gunpoint until they could disentangle the SUV. His account was confirmed by the head of another private security company.

what I don't understand is WHY the "shock"? why are you *so* surprised that this happening? The very same type of mercenary activities occurred in Vietnam, Cambodia, El Salvador and Guatemala. But you are simply SHOCKED that rogue elements of the US military would carry on like this with no rules, a veritable free-for-all......dude, are you for real? Your profound disbelief that this is occuring is a joke. where exactly have you been, in a cave somewhere reading comics? "oh, my goodness, we have mercenary operatives who abide by no law at all, save the almighty dollar, and...and...well they're just killing EVERYBODY in sight!" Your lack of insight, as well your profound ignorance of recent history renders you obsolete.
