Jose Padilla, an American citizen, was held for over three years without any charges against him. Finally, on November 22, 2005 he was indicted. The evidence against him has never been tested in court. It is unclear when or if there will be a trial.

Padilla's lawyers claim that his mistreatment has included "isolation; sleep and sensory depravation; hoodings; stress positions; exposure to noxious fumes; exposure to temperature extremes; threats of imminent execution; assaults; the forced administration of mind-altering substances; denial of religious practices; manipulation of diet; and other forms of mistreatment."

This guy is so fucked up its not even funny. He is a bad, bad dude and stupid to boot.

There are good people, US citizens , in jail for crimes they did not commit. All the evidence throughout Padilla's life has shown him to be interested in harming others, why champion him? The evidence against him is very strong. So why feel sorry for him? He would stick a knife in your back as soon as look at you. It is simply because the left is only interested in the war on terror and the present moment, because they have an envy of power. The left is not interested in real justice, or they would admit Padilla is guilty.

A Pakistani man and his son, here in Lodi, Ca actually have been framed, accused of terrorism and been victims of entrapment by the US government, yet we don't hear any one talking about them.

Padilla is a public symbol, his humanity or lack of really doesn't matter to the left any more than Tookie Williams and Mumia Jamal really matter as real people.

These are not the people you want to represent your dissatisfaction with the US government because their cases actually prove that the government is right. It only proves to us how wrong and misguided you all are. You all didn't understand the Right championing Terri Sciavio, we don't get you championing gang bangers and terrorists.

You say the evidence against Padilla is very strong but no one outside the government has seen the evidence.

You say: "The left is not interested in real justice, or they would admit Padilla is guilty." Really, is that how it works? I thought American citizens were considered innocent until proven guilty.

Padilla may very well be guilty. He may be the worst sort of scum. It makes no difference to my argument. I am not championing Padilla. I am championing the rule of law and all of our civil liberties, which are more important than Jose Padilla.
