Interesting post, but it seems to ignore all the careful evidence gathered by French intelligence and New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison regarding the role of the Swiss shell corporation Permindex (which also made four assassination attempts against DeGaulle) in funding the assassination - and the role of Hoover, FBI Division 5, and the Joint Chiefs in orchestrating it. In 1967 French intelligence published an overview of their case - FAREWELL AMERICA - under the pseudonym James Hepburn. While Garrison's grand jury case, which specifically names the front groups and 60 or so main conspirators, is outlined in the 1970 TORBITT DOCUMENT, written by a Johnson insider aware of his role in the conspiracy.

Some of the men Garrison fingered were CFR members, but they never could have carried it off without Pentagon and FBI sponsorship and oversight.

I made this observation on the original post and got a response I didn't really understand - something about all JFK assassination blogs being right and a lot of powerful people being in on the JFK assassination, Iran Contra, etc together. I think blaming the assassination on Johnson and the CIA deflects responsibility away from the higher authority - namely the Joint Chiefs of Staff - and the fact that it was a military coup.
