I would be interested to see prior demographic breakdowns on this question from prior decades, if they are available. It would be helpful to see if there is any evidence that previously-tolerant and supportive younger people became less tolerant and supportive as they aged, or if their positions were pretty well fixed from an early age.
The latter finding would bode well for the future, while the former would diminish the sense of optimism this picture generates.
